In 1994, two separate groups of enthusiastic social squash players from Orchid Park and Bishan Park condominiums were playing regularly at their respective condos. The Bishan Park group was playing under the Thomson CSC banner in the "D" Grade in the Inter-Club league from 1994 to 1996. The Orchid Park group of novices decided to have some competitive fun and participated in the "F" Grade in the 1996 league.

After the league season and purely for social reasons, the two groups decided to have a friendly game together even though there was a disparity in their skill grading levels. Unsurprisingly, the Bishan team beat the Orchid Park team soundly by 8-0 but what came out of this friendly match was a winning camaraderie amongst the participants and a mutual desire to jointly form a common squash club to welcome like-minded, keen and social players to further the enjoyment of the game of squash rackets. |
To everyone's surprise, including the pioneers, Bishan Park's Dave Phua and Francis Wong and Orchid Park's Alfred, Andrew, Kelvin and Lesster, there was a surge of equally enthusiastic new members simply by word of mouth and through personal contacts. Within 6 months, enough players were gathered to form teams from Grades "A" to "F", including a Ladies' team and participated in the 1997 Inter-Club league for the first time under a new group... United Condo Squash Club (UCSC) was born!

From then on, UCSC simply continued to blossom. Many UCSC members also participated in the inter-constituency games, continuing to forge new friendships as small pockets of UCSC players continued their squash evangelism throughout Singapore. In 1999, the UCSC website, www.ucsc.org.sg was created and launched by Chin Pak-Tjun and is today, one of the most followed squash websites in Singapore. |
Some of UCSC's earlier major near-achievements were when it narrowly missed out on winning the "Club of the Year" (COY) titles in 1999, 2000 and 2003. UCSC made up for these disappointments when it finally became the "Club of the Year" in 2004, defended it successfully in 2005, 2006 and 2007. |

Currently UCSC members play and train just about every day at various venues but the main get-togethers happen at the Singapore Polytechnic campus courts at Dover Road on Saturday afternoons (2.00pm-6.00pm) and at the Singapore Labour Foundation (SLF) Building on week-day evenings (7.00pm-10.00pm). Other weekend and weekday times and venues are on private arrangements... And these happen often. Please refer to Playing Venues section for more information.

At the helm of the current UCSC Committee is Chairman, Joseph Wong, an extremely passionate and dedicated squash fanatic. Joseph is a well-known local physiotherapist in private practice and a former member of the Singapore Squash Rackets Association (SSRA) Management Committee. Working tirelessly alongside Joseph at UCSC, are a group of dedicated non-remunerated committee members who constantly keep UCSC's flag flying high. Numerous squash activities are charted out every year for the benefit of its members, including annual squash tours to various parts of Malaysia and active participation in local and regional junior and senior tournaments by UCSC's enthusiastic members. UCSC is tasked also by the Thomson CSC to organize the annual Thomson CSC Handicap Invitational. Email us if you would like to know more about UCSC or to join the Club. The only pre-condition to UCSC membership is an unmitigated passion and love for this incredible game of Squash Rackets.
