Match Summary: UCSC 3 : New Pioneers 1
Both teams' respective No. 4s started the evening's match-up. This featured two D-graders, young 'C'onqueror, Ben Sim (BS) vs. NP's Brandon Leong (BL). The first set could have gone either way, both players extending the other with long rallies and tight control. NP drew first blood by a 11-8 score-line. Our Ben Sim continued to play his trademark cool and controlled shots in the second set to send Brandon into the four corners and errors started to come from the latter. Ben deservedly took the 2nd set by a 11-5 scoreline although the score was a little flattering. NP's Brandon was still pumped up and put up a tenacious fight in the third set but the tight control and cool placement by Ben proved the better strategy and UCSC took set #3 by a close 11-8 score. The fourth set proved to be the final one in this encounter as the NP player finally showed signs of fatigue while Ben Sim maintained an even pace with his tight control to cruise home 11-5 for an overall 3-1 win.

Weeks ago, at the Police team's home ground at the Thomson Police Academy, UCSC had beaten the lawmen by a 3-1 scoreline to begin the 'B' season with an emphatic 'B'ang.
This time, the 'B'ombers literally went one better. Putting on an 'arresting' performance, last evening's 'B'omber squadron was a mix of young and old coming together for a deadly cocktail of venom.

First of all, a very Happy Easter to one and all (even if you're not celebrating the event).
Last Wednesday on 31 March 2010 and at Hume Park 2 (fondly nicknamed 'Timbuktoo' by UCSC-sians), several squash masterclasses were showcased. The end result belies the closely fought matches throughout all 4 ties.
Starting concurrently were the respective No. 1s, PANG Ka Hoe (KH) vs. YAP Kim Wee (YKW) and the No. 3s Kevin TAN (KT) v ONG Jun Wei (OJW).
Both matches went down the wire, both ties seeing the UCSC 'C'onquerors taking their respective first sets, then both falling behind 1-2 to the quick-learning students, who both made tremendous come-backs from 1 set down.
Resort World Sentosa's Battlestar Galactica roller-coaster rides could scarcely have provided as much excitement this evening! Hold on to your seats and read on .......

This was the match of the season (so far) for the UCSC 'A'nnihilators .....
The hustling was all done by UCSC as the team caused maximal damage to the title hopes of one of the pre-season favorites, SCC2.
Before the match, UCSC was placed second in the 'A' table with a mere 2-point advantage over the evening's opponents. The 'A'nnihilators had a simple game plan - W I N !
