Having shown such courage and tenacity in beating a highly-ranked member of the formidable Egyptian squash army to reach the top eight of the BJO 2011 BU-15, the precociously talented Ka Hoe crossed swords with yet another young Egyptian squash 'pharoah' in the form of the category's No. 2 seed, Youssef Aboul MAKARIM, in one of the quarter-finals played in Abbeydale (UK) yesterday.
It was sadly, one pyramid too many. Ka Hoe succumbed to the superior MAKARIM in a 3-set loss by 3-11, 2-11, 6-11 in 20 minutes. It is however, a tournament performance to be proud of to be officially recognised as a top eight of such a prestigious world-class event, featuring some of the world's most talented juniors. Past champions and top placements in these events have gone on to become some of the world's best players in the professional circuit. We know we'll be looking out for one of them to be wearing a Singapore flag (and perhaps the occasional UCSC tee-shirt) in the future. Our heartiest congratulations to Ka Hoe for a fabulous outing and a stupendous result. UCSC Lives & Breathes Squash!
