Singapore and UCSC flags flew high as PANG Ka Hoe (seeded 17 - 32) played above himself in the British Junior Open 2011 Boys' Under-15 (BU-15) category to beat a member of the formidable Egyptian entourage, Karim TAREK (seeded 9 - 16) by a scoreline of 11-7, 7-11, 11-9, 11-9 in 50 minutes to earn a spot in the quarter-finals. The win was particularly impressive as TAREK is said to be the Egyptian BU-15 No. 2 and could have been seeded much higher than 9 - 16 officially accorded him for this BJO 2011 event.

Before this super win, Ka Hoe had triumphed over Owain TAYLOR of the UK in the first round, then accounted for Patrick SADD (also of the UK), in the second round.

Special mention of Ka Hoe's achievement by Squash Site UK (which is covering the event) and a very good photo of his winning performance against TAREK, may be found on the following link: http://www.squashsite.co.uk/bjo/11day2.htm

Ka Hoe goes on to play the BU-15 category No. 2 seed, Youssef Aboul MAKARIM (also of Egypt). We hope Uncle Bobby reads this message and lets Ka Hoe know that UCSC is already super proud of Ka Hoe. Good luck!

PANG Ka Wai played in the BU-17 category and suffered a British 'curse', losing to Jack McElvenny in the 1st round, then Brian HARVEY in the loser's pool before failing to win his first match in an exciting 5-set loss to Stuart ALLCOCK. Still, to perform so well on a world-class stage is an achievement to be proud of and UCSC salutes Ka Wai for his gallant efforts.
